Vol. 565 No. 3

Written Answers. - Medical Cards.

John McGuinness

Ceist:

317 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children if a medical card will be issued on medical grounds to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny; and if the family circumstances of this person will be considered as part of the application. [10886/03]

John McGuinness

Ceist:

318 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will review an application for a medical card in the name of a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny with a view to granting the card on medical grounds. [10887/03]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 317 and 318 together.

The determination of eligibility of applicants for medical cards is, by legislation, a matter for the chief executive officer of the relevant health board. Accordingly, the cases to which the Deputy refers have been referred to the chief executive officer of the South-Eastern Health Board for investigation and direct reply to the Deputy.
