386 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will instruct the Land Registry to urgently expedite a dealing for a person (details supplied) in County Mayo as the delay is causing this person severe financial hardship. [10941/03]
I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this is an application under section 49, acquisition of title by virtue of long possession, of the Registration of Titles Act 1964 which was lodged on 30 May 2000. Dealing Number D2000SM004835H refers.
Due to their complicated nature, applications under section 49, which require detailed examination of claims for registration as owners, can take some time to process. Accordingly, it is not possible to estimate a completion date at this stage.
I am further informed that the Land Registry received a reply on 24 February 2003 to queries which were issued to the lodging solicitors on 19 February 2003 and that the matter has progressed to the stage where notices of the application were served on parties who might have a valid interest in the property on 6 March 2003.
I assure the Deputy that, on expiration of the notice period, this application will receive further consideration in the Land Registry.
