Ceist:

434 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs the reason Murrisk in County Mayo was excluded from the CLÁR Programme; and if it can be included in the CLÁR Programme in view of the fact that it is an area that needs that kind of investment. [10801/03]

The DED of Croagh Patrick, in which Murrisk is situated, shows the following population decreases:

1926 – 1996	37.59%
1926 – 2002	32.63%

As the Deputy is aware, areas considered for inclusion in the CLÁR programme are those which suffered an average 50% decrease in population. As the Croagh Patrick DED did not attain this average, it was not considered for inclusion.
