Vol. 566 No. 1

Written Answers. - Legislative Programme.

Joe Higgins

Ceist:

164 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the legislative priorities of her Department for the current session of Dáil Éireann. [11482/03]

The legislative priorities of my Department for the current session are, with the continuing co-operation of the Houses and the Office of the Parliamentary Counsel to the Government, to progress the following published Bills currently at various stages before the Houses: Industrial Development (Science Foundation Ireland) Bill 2002 [Seanad] and the Companies (Auditing and Accounting) Bill 2003 [Seanad]. In addition, the Redundancy (Amendment) Bill was published today and it is my intention to seek to have it passed by the Oireachtas at the earliest opportunity. It is also my intention to publish the following two Bills this month, with a view to early passage: Protection of Employees (Fixed Term Contracts) Bill and the Employments Permits Bill. I also want to publish the heads of the Bill to place the Personal Injuries Assessment Board, PIAB, on a statutory basis. My Department will continue to progress the other commitments in the Government's legislation programme to Bill stage. I am also strongly committed to achieving a high level of transposition of EU directives that require to be transposed by my Department.
