Vol. 566 No. 1

Written Answers. - Tax Rebates.

Bernard J. Durkan

Ceist:

252 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Finance if a refund of income tax paid in respect of mortgage interest and pension is due to a person (details supplied) in County Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12208/03]

I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that the inspector of taxes carried out a review of the taxpayer's liability for the 2001 tax year and calculated that a refund of €279.60 is due. A balancing statement together with a cheque for this amount is in the process of being issued.

In relation to pensions, the inspector needs information about the basis on which a refund might be due. If the taxpayer is making contributions to a pension plan, for instance, he should forward copies of the relevant documentation to the inspector.

The inspector wrote to the taxpayer on 6 May 2003 requesting that he forward any details he may have regarding pension contributions. Upon receipt of it he will carry out a review of the taxpayer's liability and issue any further refund which may be due.
