Vol. 566 No. 3

Written Answers. - Garda Deployment.

John Gormley

Ceist:

391 Mr. Gormley asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of gardaí on duty for the Leinster versus Perpignan game in Lansdowne Road; the total cost in providing security; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12831/03]

I have been informed by the Garda authorities, who are responsible for the detailed allocation of resources, including personnel, that there were a total of 147 gardaí of all ranks on duty for the Leinster versus Perpignan rugby match at Lansdowne Road Stadium on 27 April 2003. The total cost of providing security at the game amounted to €22,000. This figure includes normal hours, overtime hours and travel and subsistence allowance.
