Dan Boyle

Ceist:

444 Mr. Boyle asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the take up of new buildings constructed through the special tax designation available to assist regeneration in Passage West, County Cork. [12916/03]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 424 and 444 together.

Passage West was designated for tax incentives under the Urban Renewal Scheme 1999. The Urban Renewal Act 1998 places responsibility on local authorities to monitor progress on the implementation of the scheme. Under guidelines issued by my Department, monitoring committees have been established in respect of each integrated area plan approved under the scheme to report to the local authority on progress made.

While monitoring data on the scheme are submitted to my Department periodically, current data on specific projects in the individual sub-areas designated may more appropriately be sought from the local authority concerned.
