Vol. 566 No. 3

Written Answers. - Tenant Purchase Scheme.

Emmet Stagg

Ceist:

443 Mr. Stagg asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the selling price to be used in determining a tenant purchase price where a local authority took over a mortgage on a house from a building society; if the selling price should be market value or the take over cost of the mortgage plus CPI; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12896/03]

The administration of the tenant purchase scheme is a matter for each local authority. Under the terms of the current scheme, the sale price of a house is based on the market value, as determined by the local authority, less the appropriate discounts.
