Vol. 567 No. 1

Written Answers. - Traveller Education.

Conor Lenihan

Ceist:

231 Mr. C. Lenihan asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will consider providing 100% funding for Traveller pre-schools and Traveller transport, in view of the fact that many voluntary agencies who currently fund the shortfall are finding it increasingly difficult to support his Department's pre-school transport costings. [13377/03]

Recently my Department carried out a review of pre-school education provided for Travellers. A report will be available shortly.

The future funding of such pre-school education will be among the issues considered in light of the outcome of the review. It will also be in the context of a broader review by the OECD on early childhood education from birth to six years.
