Written Answers. - School Transport.

John Deasy

Ceist:

249 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Education and Science if free school transport will be provided for children who had been attending St. Anne's school, Cappoquin, to the new Blackwater community school in Lismore, County Waterford; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13590/03]

Brian O'Shea

Ceist:

258 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Education and Science the undertakings which were given in regard to the provision of free school transport to pupils attending St. Anne's secondary school, Cappoquin, County Waterford, at the time of the closure of St. Anne's school and who will then enrol in Blackwater community school, Lismore, County Waterford; if his Department will provide free transport for these pupils; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13776/03]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 249 and 258 together.

I have asked the school transport section of my Department to examine school transport arrangements in the light of the amalgamation of the postprimary schools in the Cappaquin-Lismore areas of County Waterford. The Deputies will be informed of the outcome as soon as possible.
