326 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health and Children if he has asked the Western Health Board for a statement on a situation whereby it was alleged in a recent publication (details supplied) that the Western Health Board used midwifery funding for the appointment of a consultant neonatologist and whereby the setting up of six new midwifery posts has been cancelled as a result. Responsibility for the funding of the services in question is a matter for the Western Health Board. My Department has asked the chief executive officer of the board to reply to the Deputy directly.

327 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health and Children if he has received a submission from the Southern Health Board for additional resources for the pathology service in Tralee General Hospital. [13576/03]

The provision of hospital services at Tralee General Hospital is a matter for the Southern Health Board. My Department has asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the position and to reply directly to the Deputy.
