Vol. 567 No. 1

Written Answers. - Health Board Services.

Róisín Shortall

Ceist:

336 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Health and Children further to Parliamentary Question No. 356 of 13 May 2003, if he will provide the exact details on the contact and correspondence he has had with the Northern Area Health Board or the ERHA regarding the recruitment and funding problem at Cuan Ros which has resulted in all respite care being cancelled; the reasons this point was not answered in his reply on 13 May 2003; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13634/03]

On receipt of the Deputy's question of 13 May 2003, my Department referred the matter to the Eastern Regional Health Authority. I understand that the authority is now issuing a reply to the Deputy.

As indicated in my reply of 13 May 2003, responsibility for the provision of health services in the Dublin 7 area rests with the Northern Area Health Board operating under the aegis of the Eastern Regional Health Authority. It is a matter for the authority to manage the funding provided by my Department in relation to services for older people.
