139 Mr. C. Lenihan asked the Taoiseach the total number of people employed in the financial services sector here. [13362/03]

The latest available statistics are calculated from the Quarterly National Household Survey. These show that in the fourth quarter of 2002, there were an estimated 70,200 persons employed in the financial sector.

The full classification of persons in employment (ILO) by economic sector is included in the following table:
