Vol. 569 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Paul Connaughton

Ceist:

71 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason the 2002 suckler cow grant has not issued to a person (details supplied) in County Galway; if a penalty has been imposed; if so, the reason the penalty has been imposed; the size of the penalty; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17320/03]

The person named applied for premium on 33 animals under the 2002 suckler cow premium scheme. All 33 animals have been found eligible and are accepted for payment. However, at an inspection of the herd on 31 October 2002 it was found that nine unclaimed animals were not compliant in relation to the identification and registration requirements as set out in clauses 37 and 38 of the terms and conditions of the scheme. The herd owner was notified that his bovine payments would be subject to a resultant penalty and was given the opportunity of seeking a review. The suckler cow application has now been processed for payment on 33 animals with a 13.82% identification and registration penalty. Payment amounting to €6,374.70 will issue this week.

Jimmy Deenihan

Ceist:

72 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when depopulation grants will be awarded to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17321/03]

The depopulation grant due to the person concerned is being processed by the district veterinary office and payment will issue shortly.
