Cecilia Keaveney

Ceist:

98 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Education and Science the position in relation to an application for a full-time classroom assistant for a person (details supplied) in County Donegal; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17343/03]

The child in question is currently in receipt of 15 hours per week special needs assistant support since November 2000. My Department received an application on behalf of the child for full-time special needs assistant support. This was considered by the national educational psychological service, which concluded that a full-time post was not warranted. This information was conveyed to the school authorities in April 2003.
