Vol. 569 No. 4

Written Answers. - Chiropody Services.

Bernard Allen

Ceist:

206 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health and Children the position regarding a situation whereby a person (details supplied) in County Cork who applied for chiropody services due to an ingrown toenail, has been informed that he will have to get a letter from his general practitioner and then go on a waiting list for three months before he can get chiropody services on his medical card; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17866/03]

Responsibility for both the determination of eligibility of persons for medical cards and their actual provision are, by legislation, matters for the chief executive officer of the relevant health board. Accordingly, this case has been referred to the chief executive officer of the Southern Health Board for investigation and direct reply to the Deputy.
