Vol. 569 No. 4

Written Answers. - Mental Handicap Services.

Gay Mitchell

Ceist:

229 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Health and Children the assistance available to a person (details supplied) in Dublin 10 who suffers from Down's syndrome for a procedure which is not provided for under their medical card; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18011/03]

The determination of eligibility for services for medical card holders is, by legislation, a matter for the chief executive officer of the relevant health board to decide. Accordingly, this case has been referred to the regional chief executive of the ERHA for investigation and direct reply to the Deputy.
