277 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for the Environment Heritage and Local Government if Carlow County Council has submitted a plan for funding to deal with the sewerage system problems at Ballon, County Carlow, as outlined on its website (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. Carlow County Council identified a sewerage scheme for Ballon, as a potential serviced land initiative project, in the list of water and sewerage schemes submitted in response to my Department's request to local authorities to undertake fresh assessments of the need for capital works in their areas and to prioritise their proposals on the basis of the assessments. However, no application for formal approval of the proposal has subsequently been received by my Department from the council.
