182 Mr. Durkan asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the number of applications for work permits received since the beginning of 2003; the number which were first time and repeat; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [18843/03]
The number of work permit applications accepted and entered on the work permits database this year, to end June is almost 26,000. There is no breakdown available of first time and repeat work permit applications received as this data is only available in regard to work permits issued. Some 43% of total permits issued to date in 2003 have been in respect of renewals of existing permits.
