Vol. 570 No. 2

Written Answers. - Health Board Staff.

Paul McGrath

Ceist:

382 Mr. P. McGrath asked the Minister for Health and Children if there are restrictions on certain grades of health board employees becoming elected members of local authorities; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18356/03]

Under the Health Act 1970 the chief executive officer of a health board is responsible, in the first instance, for determining the terms and conditions of employment for health board employees. Each health board has confirmed to my Department that there is no prohibition on health board employees becoming elected members of local authorities.
