540 Mr. Broughan asked the Minister for the Environment Heritage and Local Government the reasons for the delay in the provision of a civic amenity centre in Drogheda, County Louth; when construction of this long awaited project will commence; when the civic amenity centre will become fully operational; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My Department has received an application form Drogheda Borough Council for assistance towards the provision of a civic amenity centre in Drogheda. Having examined the application, officials of my Department subsequently met with the local authority to discuss technical aspects of the project.
As a result of this, the local authority recently submitted additional information to support their application as requested by my Department. The application is now being re-examined in light of this additional information.
