Seán Crowe

Ceist:

163 Mr. Crowe asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if her Department has given support, financial or otherwise, to Irish companies operating in Turkey; the names of those companies; and the projects in which they are involved. [18638/03]

The task of assisting Irish companies to move into international markets is the responsibility of Enterprise Ireland. Over the past 18 months, Enterprise Ireland has provided financial and practical support to 55 companies to explore export market opportunities in Turkey.

Enterprise Ireland assistance to client companies wishing to export involves market research studies, including sectoral studies, opportunity identification, co-ordination and logistical support for outward trade missions as well as strategic advice on acquisitions based on detailed research.
Enterprise Ireland client companies seeking to export to Turkey operate in a wide range of sectors and are pursuing projects in the following areas: aerospace, beef, clothing and footwear, construction products, consultancy services, dairy, digital content, drinks, education services, electronics, engineering components, financial software, fish, healthcare/pharmaceutical, instrumentation, life sciences software, paper, print and packaging, project management services, telecommunications, textiles and floor coverings. Information relating to the export market initiatives of individual company projects within individual markets is commercially sensitive information and is provided by companies to Enterprise Ireland on the basis that it will be treated as confidential information.
