Jack Wall

Ceist:

264 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs the position regarding a file in the State Solicitor's Office in relation to the registration of the deeds of the property of a person (details supplied) in County Kildare in view of the importance of an early decision on this matter; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The matter raised by the Deputy is a day to day operational matter for Waterways Ireland, one of the six North-South Implementation bodies established under the British-Irish Agreement Act 1999. However, I understand from Waterways Ireland that the position in this case is that Waterways Ireland is selling the freehold interest in the property to the person referred to by the Deputy. Contracts have been signed and a deposit paid. I understand the deed of conveyance in this case was returned, by Waterways Ireland, to the Chief State Solicitors Office on 30 June, having been sealed and witnessed, and that office is now in a position to complete the sale with the purchaser's solicitor. Registration of the deed will be a matter for the purchaser's solicitors after the sale has been closed.
