Vol. 570 No. 4

Written Answers. - Public Transport.

Olwyn Enright

Ceist:

302 Ms Enright asked the Minister for Transport if a free travel permit will be granted to a person (details supplied) to operate a route (details supplied); when he expects this application to be granted; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19500/03]

The issue of a free travel permit is a matter for the Department of Social and Family Affairs. Applications for bus passenger licences are dealt with by my Department, in accordance with the provisions of the Road Transport Act 1932, and on a confidential basis. An application has been received in my Department for a licence for a proposed bus passenger service in the general area in question. The application is currently being processed and my Department will be in touch with the applicant as soon as possible.
