The question of the development of future policy options in relation to speed limits is the subject of a review being carried out on my behalf by a broadly based working group. The group was established to review the range of speed limits deployed on all classes of roadway and to recommend metric values for speed limits to be introduced by the end of 2004. I understand that the review group is concluding its deliberations at present and intends to submit its report to me shortly.
