I am informed by the Garda authorities, who are responsible for the day to day allocation of resources, including personnel, that the area bounded by Phibsboro Road-Blessington Street, Western Way and Mountjoy Street, Dublin 7, is policed by the Bridewell and Mountjoy Garda stations. Local Garda management is satisfied that there are sufficient personnel to cover the area bounded by the locations concerned.
Four community gardaí cover the area concerned, two from the Bridewell and two from Mountjoy Garda stations. In addition, all gardaí assigned to Mountjoy and the Bridewell Garda stations have a responsibility, inter alia, to deal with community policing matters as they arise. There are four residents' groups in the area and these have met with gardaí on a regular basis. The sergeant in charge of community policing in the area is a recent appointment. He has already met some of the residents' groups and intends meeting the rest in the coming weeks. Garda management will continue to appraise the policing and administrative strategy employed in the Mountjoy and Bridewell Garda stations with a view to ensuring that an effective Garda service is maintained.
