Vol. 571 No. 1

Written Answers. - IDA Property.

Jack Wall

Ceist:

272 Mr. Wall asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the number of sites in the possession of the IDA in south Kildare; if any of the sites have been sold to the local authority; the plans for the lands; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [20915/03]

The management of the IDA Ireland property portfolio is a day-to-day operational matter for the agency, and not one in which I have a direct function. There are six sites in the possession of the IDA in south Kildare. IDA is currently in negotiations with Kildare County Council for the sale of three of these sites, comprising a total of 18 acres which will assist in the ongoing development of the area. These sites are located at Castledermot (3 acres), Monasterevin (5 acres) and Kildare Town (10 acres).

The remaining three sites, totalling 31 acres and located at Naas (8 acres), Athy (3 acres) and Newbridge (20 acres) are being retained by IDA for marketing to potential overseas investors.
