Vol. 571 No. 1

Written Answers. - Flood Relief.

Seán Crowe

Ceist:

345 Mr. Crowe asked the Minister for Finance when the Office of Public Works report on measures to stop flooding along the Tolka in the future will be published. [19739/03]

The full report on the River Tolka flooding study, which is being funded by the Office of Public Works, is being carried out by consultants employed by Dublin City Council as part of the Greater Dublin Strategic Drainage Study. A draft of the final report was received by Office of Public Works last month and is being given careful examination by Office of Public Works and the three local authorities concerned, Meath and Fingal County Councils and Dublin City Council. When all submissions have been considered the report will be finalised as quickly as possible in order for further decisions to be taken on the whole of the River Tolka catchment. The final report follows on from the preliminary reports prepared for the local authorities following the severe flooding from the River Tolka in November 2002. As a result of the preliminary reports, Office of Public Works is undertaking interim flood alleviation works along the river following Part 8 public exhibition by both Meath County Council and Dublin City Council. All the works contained in the package exhibited by the Dublin City Council are expected to be completed in the next two months.
