Ceist:

582 Ms O. Mitchell asked the Minister for Education and Science if an assistant teacher will be provided for a person (details supplied) in Dublin 18 who attends St. Mary's national school, Sandyford; and if the position will be clarified as soon as possible. [20470/03]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 565 and 582 together.

I am aware of the case referred to by the Deputy. All applications for resource teacher and special needs assistant resources received after 14 February 2003 and by close of business on 31 August 2003 are being examined on the basis of the supporting professional report(s) and in the context of the resources already available to the school. The process involves an examination of each application and supporting documentation by a dedicated team of inspectors and psychologists and schools will be informed of the outcomes as early as possible in the school year 2003-04.
