Vol. 571 No. 1

Written Answers. - Special Educational Needs.

Jack Wall

Ceist:

646 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Education and Science further to Parliamentary Question No. 195 of 14 May 2003, the position regarding the application by a person (details supplied) in County Kildare for a resource teacher and resource teaching facilities; if a decision had been made on the case; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20829/03]

All applications for resource teacher and special needs assistant resources received after 14 February 2003 and by close of business on 31 August 2003 are being examined on the basis of the supporting professional report(s) and in the context of the resources already available to the school. The process involves an examination of each application and supporting documentation by a dedicated team of inspectors and psychologists and schools will be informed of the outcomes as early as possible in the school year 2003-04. An application in respect of the person to whom the Deputy refers will be dealt with in this context.
