All the services that are available to children generally are available to adopted children and their families. Earlier this summer I initiated a consultation process on adoption legislation to give interested groups and individuals the opportunity to comment on existing and proposed adoption legislation. Post-adoption services for adoptive families is one of the many issues which is being dealt with in the course of the consultation process, which will conclude with a conference in October. Following the conference it is my intention to publish a document setting out the various views expressed in the written consultation and during the conference. This document will then inform future developments in adoption legislation.
