800 Mr. F. McGrath asked the Minister for Health and Children his views on the strong concerns expressed at the premature closure of Dúnard, Unit B Female, St. Ita's, Portrane (details supplied) in County Dublin; and the situation regarding same. [19575/03]
Responsibility for the provision of services for persons with an intellectual disability and/or autism in he Dublin area is a matter for the Eastern Regional Health Authority. My Department has therefore asked the chief executive officer of the authority to investigate the matter raised by the Deputy and reply to him directly.
With regard to the matter mentioned under details supplied, stage 5 documentation for the proposed new unit has been received in this Department, However, the Eastern Regional Health Authority is currently carrying out a review of its property portfolio. A decision on whether to proceed to the next stage of the project will depend on that review.
