Finian McGrath

Ceist:

833 Mr. F. McGrath asked the Minister for Health and Children the amount of public finance granted to the Gheel Centre, Griffith Court, Dublin 3, in 2003; and if there are plans to develop services on site for persons with intellectual disabilities. [19913/03]

Responsibility for the provision of funding for services to persons with an intellectual disability and those with autism in the Dublin region, including the agency mentioned by the Deputy, rests with the Eastern Regional Health Authority. My Department has therefore asked the chief executive officer of the authority to investigate the matter raised by the Deputy and reply to him directly.

Ceist:

835 Mr. F. McGrath asked the Minister for Health and Children if extra finance from the ?15 million announced on 22 July 2003 was granted to the Gheel Centre, Griffith Court, Dublin 3; and if so, the details in this regard. [19915/03]

The sum of €6.571 million from the additional €15 million revenue funding announced on 22 July 2003 was allocated to the Eastern Regional Health Authority. The sum of €5 million was allocated to meet costs associated with the provision of emergency placements in 2003, with a full year cost of €6.650 million in 2004. The sum of €1.571 million was allocated to provide additional day services, with particular reference to the provision of day places, including rehabilitative training places, for those young adults who left school in June 2003, with a full year cost of €4.712 million in 2004.

Responsibility for the allocation of this funding to specific agencies within the eastern region rests with the Eastern Regional Health Authority. My Department has therefore asked the chief executive officer to investigate the matter raised by the Deputy and reply to him directly.
