Vol. 571 No. 1

Written Answers. - Housing Aid for the Elderly.

Paul Kehoe

Ceist:

908 Mr. Kehoe asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason a person (details supplied) in County Wexford is still waiting for the work to be done by the South Eastern Health Board under special housing aid for the elderly, despite it having been approved on 17 June 2003; when this funding will be made available; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20287/03]

As the Deputy will be aware, the special housing aid scheme for the elderly is funded by the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government, which has overall responsibility for the scheme. I understand that Department has made a grant of €1.21 million available to the South Eastern Health Board to fund the scheme in 2003. My Department has, therefore, asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the matter raised by the Deputy and reply direct to him as a matter of urgency.
