Vol. 571 No. 1

Written Answers. - Tribunals of Inquiry.

Fergus O'Dowd

Ceist:

959 Mr. O'Dowd asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will institute a sworn public inquiry into all aspects of symphysiotomy operations performed here, and in particular in the Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda. [20630/03]

I will be meeting with representatives of the patient group Survivors of Symphysiotomy on 1 October 2003 to discuss concerns which they have raised about the use of symphysiotomy in obstetric practice in the past. I will consider the matter further in the light of these discussions.
