Written Answers. - Death of Hospital Patient.

Aengus Ó Snodaigh

Ceist:

999 Aengus Ó Snodaigh asked the Minister for Health and Children if the circumstances of the death of a person (details supplied) in St. James's Hospital on 11 September 2003, after having spent over 12 hours on a trolley without being seen by a doctor, will be investigated. [21037/03]

Responsibility for the provision of health services for persons residing in Counties Dublin, Kildare and Wicklow rests with the Eastern Regional Health Authority. Given the particular circumstances outlined by the Deputy, my Department has requested the regional chief executive of the authority to investigate the position in relation to this case and to prepare a report as a matter of urgency.

Question No. 1000 answered with Question No. 793.
