1010 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will outline the work carried out to date by the project team appointed to undertake an option appraisal for a health infrastructure in Athlone, County Westmeath; the action being taken by his Department to pursue the options in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The project team for the proposed Athlone health infrastructure has prepared a draft design brief for the project. The draft brief was prepared to inform the carrying out of an option appraisal by a firm of architects appointed by the Midland Health Board.

On completion of the option appraisal the pro ject team finalised the design brief, taking account of the architect's recommended preferred option. This design brief was recently submitted to my Department and it is being examined in the context of future capital priorities of the board.
