Vol. 571 No. 1

Written Answers. - Road Safety.

Seán Crowe

Ceist:

1065 Mr. Crowe asked the Minister for Transport the measures he is contemplating taking against bicycle couriers who are caught travelling the wrong way on one-way streets in the light of at least one death and several injuries; and if measures will include banning such people from acting as couriers. [20532/03]

The Road Traffic (Traffic and Parking) Regulations, 1997 and 1998 provide that traffic – this includes cyclists – shall not proceed in the direction of the arrow shown on the no entry sign at one-way streets. Enforcement of the regulations is a matter for the Garda Síochána.
