1230 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform his Department's views on the recommendations contained on the submission from the City of Dublin Pistol Club to the firearms review; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21044/03]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 1158, 1166, 1168, 1185 and 1230 together.

I have received representations concerning firearms held under the Firearms (Temporary Custody) Order, 1972. I wish to inform the Deputies that, while the order has expired, the firearms continue to be held in custody as a result of Government policy on the holding of firearms and there are currently no plans to release the firearms taken into custody under the original order.

However, as I have previously indicated to the House, the review of Government policy in relation to firearms matters is ongoing and I will communicate the outcome of the review to the House in the usual manner when it is completed.
