Vol. 571 No. 1

Written Answers. - Road Traffic Offences.

John Bruton

Ceist:

1186 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of prosecutions which have been issued for speeding on the Drumree Road, Dunshaughlin, County Meath, west of a public house (details supplied) in Dunshaughlin; if additional gardaí will be provided in the Dunshaughlin area to deal with the problem of speeding; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20554/03]

I have been advised by the Garda authorities that 15 offences have been detected at the location in question to date this year. All these offences have been subject to fixed charge penalties and penalty points. The area is policed by gardaí attached to Dunshaughlin Garda station and is also patrolled by the divisional traffic unit.

The Garda authorities assure me that the situation in Dunshaughlin is being kept under review in the overall context of the needs of the Garda divisions throughout the country.
