Vol. 571 No. 2

Written Answers. - Third Level Courses.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

249 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Education and Science the steps he is taking in relation to the occupational therapy degree course that was due to start in NUI Galway last week; if this course can be given proper accreditation; and when this course will be up and running. [21417/03]

The accreditation of the occupational therapy programme at NUI Galway is a matter for resolution between the university and the Association of Occupational Therapists of Ireland, as accrediting body. I am pleased to advise the Deputy of my understanding that good progress has now been made between the two parties in this regard and that the process of accreditation is in train. As a result, the students have now been informed by NUI Galway that the programme is going ahead as planned.
