Vol. 571 No. 2

Written Answers. - Teaching Qualifications.

John Perry

Ceist:

259 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Education and Science further to the recent announcement for St. Angela's College Sligo, the amount of money that he has granted for the further development of St. Angela's College; if he will give a guarantee that the number of student placements for home economics teaching will be increased as it is presently capped at 28 in St. Angela's College, with a similar intake in St. Catherine's College, Sion Hill; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21427/03]

The implementation of my recent decision in relation to the future training of home economics teachers will require some discussion with St. Angela's College with regard to the necessary practical arrangements. On the issue of student numbers, it is intended that the intake of students to St. Angela's will be increased from the 2004-05 academic year.
