Vol. 571 No. 2

Written Answers. - Departmental Staff.

John McGuinness

Ceist:

314 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for the Environment Heritage and Local Government if full pay is being paid to a person (details supplied); if he will continue to be paid during the course of an investigation into complaints that this person made and while he is under the care of his general practitioner; if every effort will be made by the Department to accommodate this person given the fact that his illness relates to the workplace; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21361/03]

The employee concerned has exhausted his entitlement to both full and half rates of sick pay under the Civil Service scheme. After expiry of these entitlements, in certain circumstances, a pension rate of pay may be payable. At present this case is being examined by the office of the chief medical officer with a view to assisting my Department to determine whether such a rate of pay may be payable.
