My Department is strongly committed to achieving a prompt and timely transposition of outstanding EU directives. The key to achieving this is through a prioritisation of this work within the Department and this has been done. I am satisfied that adequate resources are being deployed to this task. This issue is also under continuous review by the management board of the Department with the aim of ensuring that drafting is advanced in a timely manner.
Significant progress continues to be made in transposing directives. Some 19 directives have been transposed so far this year. There are currently 12 directives overdue. Of these, seven are expected to be transposed between now and the end of December. Because of particular complexities, the remaining five are not expected to be transposed this year although this will be kept under review. The attached schedule gives details of the outstanding directives and the expected dates of transposition.
