Vol. 571 No. 3

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

David Stanton

Ceist:

192 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Education and Science if he has received a report on the present and future needs of Rahan national school (details supplied) in County Cork; if so, the needs; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21799/03]

My Department is aware of the school's present and future need for improved accommodation. The timing of when projects may progress to architectural planning will depend on the budgetary provision for 2004 and subsequent years, the rate of progress of existing projects in architectural planning and the priority afforded to each project by reference to the published criteria for prioritising large scale building projects.

The school's short-term requirements will also be considered in the context of the 2004 capital programme which will outline details of projects for which funding is to be made available. Schools should, as appropriate, use their devolved grant to deal with capital works.
