193 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Education and Science the funding made available by the youth affairs section of his Department for the operation of Gaisce, the President's Award scheme, in 2000, 2001, 2002 and in 2003; the number of participants in the scheme in each respective year; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The funding made available by the youth affairs section of my Department for the operation of Gaisce – the President's Award – for the years 2000-03 is outlined below, together with the number of participants:

A grant of €510,000 has been made available in 2003. The number of participants in 2003 is currently being collated and will be forwarded to the Deputy when finalised.
