Vol. 571 No. 4

Written Answers. - Visa Applications.

John Gormley

Ceist:

462 Mr. Gormley asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the position regarding the case of a person (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22113/03]

The immigration division of my Department received a visa application from the person concerned on 3 September 2003 to enable her to enter the State to work under the work permit scheme. The application was accompanied by a work permit and a copy of the applicant's passport. The application was refused on 18 September as the work permit accompanying the visa application was due to expire on 12 October 2003.

A check of the applicant's passport indicated that she had arrived at Shannon Airport on three different occasions without a valid Irish entry visa – June 2000, June 2001 and June 2003. She was allowed to enter the State on the first two occasions, and was refused leave to land in June 2003.
