173 Ms Enright asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources the number of meetings held with An Post management; the dates of such meetings; the agenda for those meetings; the policy direction provided for the company; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I met with An Post on six occasions on the following dates: 19h June 2002; 31 October 2002; 2 January 2003; 10 March 2003; 21 May 2003; 2 September 2003. Although there were no fixed agendas for these meetings, the bulk of the discussions were concerned with the financial situation of the company. I also met members of An Post informally at launches and openings of post offices.

In addition to those meetings, officials from my Department meet and are in contact with An Post management on a regular basis. No formal policy direction has been issued to An Post, but the company has been made aware of my concerns over its financial situation.
