Vol. 571 No. 4

Written Answers. - Fox Hunting.

Martin Ferris

Ceist:

205 Mr. Ferris asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if the Government will take the necessary steps to prevent fox hunts trespassing on the land of farmers who do not wish to allow them access. [21973/03]

The issue of entry by a hunt on to private lands is in each instance a matter for the landowner concerned. There are already legal protections against trespass in place to which landowners may have recourse if they so choose. As far as fox hunting is concerned, it is my belief that hunts generally respect the wishes of farmers and other landowners as regards hunts entering onto their lands.
