Vol. 572 No. 1

Written Answers. - Departmental Properties.

John McGuinness

Ceist:

178 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will withdraw from the arrangement regarding the site at Leggetsrath, Dublin Road, Kilkenny, the current rent or lease arrangement, the amount paid to date for the unoccupied site, the legal cost to date to his Department in the proceedings taken by local residents, and if he will withdraw from the legal process by indicating an end to the project. [22571/03]

As I have indicated in my replies to previous parliamentary questions, the development envisaged at this site is currently the subject of litigation in the High Court and, pending the outcome of these proceedings, the question of withdrawing from the legal process does not arise.

Matters relating to the current rent or lease arrangement and the amount paid in respect of the site are appropriate to the Office of Public Works which should be in a position to provide the necessary information.

The Office of the Chief State Solicitor has advised me that no fee note has been received by it to date in relation to legal costs pertaining to the High Court proceedings.
